We love Steamboat Springs and we love dogs, cats, and other furry friends! Valerie and Nick grew up in homes that at times bordered on zoos: we shared our lives with dogs, cats, hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, lizards, frogs, and turtles. We know how much your pets mean to you and we strive to provide the best service and care for your dogs, cats, and everything in between.
What do we do when we’re not helping you out? Our passions revolve around the bounty of the outdoors we enjoy in Steamboat Springs. Skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, backpacking, fishing, and photographing these pursuits make life in Colorado so much fun.
Everyone on our team has passed a criminal background check and is Animal CPR/first Aid certified.
Valerie Porges
“As a little girl, I frequently cared for my neighbor’s pets and have always been happiest when I’ve been around animals. I found myself working my dream job taking care of pets to get myself through college. After getting a Bachelor’s degree in Business and a minor in Entrepreneurship, I wanted to start my own business and care for animals. When I moved to Steamboat Springs, the idea for Snow or Shine Pet Care was born and I’m excited to now be doing what I love.“
Nick Holt
“I was fortunate to grow up surrounded by pets of all shapes, sizes, breeds and species. Some of my favorite pets were Sheba the Norwegian Elkhound and Howie the guinea pig. I have a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering and enjoy making places better than I found them by picking up trash wherever I walk or hike. I love helping people and pets any way I can, and the smiles of happy pets and owners make living in Steamboat Springs even more of a treat.”
Chrissy
Chrissy is a born and raised local and knows our beautiful part of Colorado like the back of her hand. She loves all animals.
Jazzy
Nick and Valerie adopted Jazzy after she outlived her owner. She is a 13-year-old English Labrador Retriever. Jazzy is a working therapy dog at Casey’s Pond retirement home and visits 3 days a week to bring joy to the residents and staff. She loves it too! If you would like to meet Jazzy, just let us know. Jazzy’s passions are naps, getting pats, and food.
